UiB’s Second Annual Learning Conference will be held Thursday, 20. October 2016 at the VilVite Centre by the campus of the University of Bergen.
We have developed this conference to to provide the entire UiB community an opportunity to engage in a meaningful conversation about improving teaching and learning at the University. It will showcase high quality, engaging, and innovative pedagogy among the teaching staff.
We are delighted and honored that the keynote speaker for our second annual conference will be Dr. Edward Deci, a leading expert on student motivation in higher education. He is perhaps best known as the co-founder of Self-Determination Theory (SDT). Professor Deci will focus on how instructors’ understanding of SDT can improve student motivation and learning.
The conference will feature the keynote address, several workshops by UiB instructors, a poster session, and a concluding workshop with Dr. Deci.
Registration is free and includes a full day of events, as well as breakfast and lunch. While this conference has been developed for the UiB faculty and staff, anyone interested in teaching and learning in higher education is invited and welcome to attend.
